I first moved to Nacogdoches when I was About to the start first grade, I’ve been here for many years now, and I love it so much, The pine trees are exquisite, Steven F Austin State University is also located within Nacogdoches so it is very convenient.

It is a very quaint and beautiful small country town. There is not a whole lot to do, but it is easy to make do with what is offered here. The beautiful gardens from SFA that you can walk through, and the trees surrounding the town give the town a very beautiful and earthy glow to it. If a small and humble little town is what you are looking for, this is a place for that. We are only 30 minutes from the nearest bigger town, so it is a perfect place to settle down.

It's a college town with a major Texas college and yet it is not a college town. with maybe 3 clubs in the entire town. There are very few chain stores and restaurants. NO MALL. It is marketed as a retirement community however you have a D1 college in town yet there is nothing that would make college kids want to stay.

I love Nacogdoches! It is a truly beautiful place and the SFA campus breathes life into the area. It is a small town and has some of the common drawbacks small towns have such as limited opportunity and close minded people but the university takes away from some of that. I've truly loved living here but I'm not sure if it will be my forever home. I'm open to the possibility though.

I love Nacogdoches Texas, I was born and raised in this small town. I love how everyone is so sweet and caring in this community, we all treat each other like family. One thing I love about Nacogdoches is the parades, the way that everybody comes together and have a good time just puts a smile on my face and makes my days even better. One think I would like to see a change in is the roads, the roads are a little too rough and it can feel really dangerous when it’s raining, so that is something that I would like to see a change in, but other than that I love the community and the people in it.

Nice little town. Historic, tranquil, lots of green spaces, and that friendly vibe of the small town where everyone knows everyone else. Has a great farmer's marker and growing arts scene. The university presence brings options not usually available in a small town, like a Japanese string quartet performance or a touring theater company. Went to college in Nac in the nineties, moved away to work in the big city, came back because I love the vibe. Best decision ever.

I like the small town feeling and friendly people. I would like for there to be mor businesses allowed into the town. The local people in power want to keep the town small and allow mainly local businesses while keeping a lot of big corporations out. This means things a pretty pricy in this small town due to lack of competition.

Great college town. Convenient, the school has smaller classes. Several places within walking distance, however also not a far drive. Plenty of places to eat, and to stay to watch a football game. Several grocery stores to choose from. This may be a small college town, but there are plenty of places to to adventure out to see, do and eat!

Nacogdoches is a very involved with getting the community together. There is always some event going on that involves everyone. The members of this community are thoughtful and a team. I love this town with my whole heart. I plan on being here and experiencing more of Nacogdoches at least for 4 more years. I will be extremely sad when I leave Nacogdoches.

I'm 85 year old senior lady. You can't live here if you don't drive. Senior living facilities are absolutely appalling. I know my husband was in 2 trying to get good care. It's just not available here.
Great lacking in upscale restaurants and major shopping companies i've lived in Dallas, Houston and Tyler. Medical is so,so. Not bad but not great either. Roads and streets are in terrible shape. HEB and Applebees trying to start here but backed out because of city council. Parks are not handicapped available and especially the BallPark facility. No sidewalks to stands, restrooms or concession stands so most handicapped seniors don't go see grandkids play. I'm still here because of family and need help with physical condition. Otherwise I'd move.
Covid was a test for town and it failed.
Hopefully learned a lesson. Texas freeze was another test and it failed that ,too.
Every service here lacks competition from any company with big name. All good old boy mentality.

This review is coming from someone who lived in Nacogdoches for over 20 years. There are three types of people that live here: college kids(for most of the year), retirees and young children. There are others, but by far these are the majority. There is a very limited number of places to go and things to do. I found myself very bored for the first 20, or so, years of my life. Keep in mind this is the bible belt so if baptist churches everywhere(there is a ~0.1 square mile area in town that has 4 different churches in it near TJR) is your thing, this is your place. If you belong to any other religion or are an atheist, don't expect to be welcomed nicely. Nac is simultaneously the oldest town in Texas and the oldest thinking town in Texas. The only reason I gave it a 2 star review instead of a 1 star review b/c I do still have some friends that live here. If you want to move somewhere in the south, do yourself a favor and DO NOT MOVE TO NACOGDOCHES!

Nacogdoches is a great town to live and come to retire in. There are so many unheard of opportunities in this small beautiful town that get unnoticed and unsaid often. There are great home colonies to live in and many high end folks live here. The best part of being in healthcare field, is that there is not much competition and you will get paid high end for what you do!!!!

I have lived in Nacogdoches all my life and I think it is a nice place to live. It's not like a large city where there are loud noises all the time, and I enjoy a more calm setting. I do think Nacogdoches could use a larger variety of restaurants but other than that I like it!

Nacogdoches is the smallest town in Texas, and it has been my home all my life. The people here are excellent. They are friendly and easy to be around. One of the greatest things about Nacogdoches is that, since it's a small town, there are always fairly few cars on the road and the commute time is short.

The only highlight of living here is the fact that SFA is here and it's not too far from Longview, TX and Shreveport/Bossier City, Louisiana other than that this town is not maintained very well. The raggedy roads combined with the hilly terrain will tear up your vehicle, downtown streets are AWFUL, entries to the businesses are not smooth, seriously be prepared to spend your income on auto repairs here, truly pathetic!

I have been living in Nacogdoches for a quite a while. While I do love the town, the people are a bit racist and conservative.

Nacogdoches, a town located in East Texas, it’s even considered the oldest town in Texas! It has a small population of 33,000 people get it has many community activities for people of all ages. The parks are well taken care of as well as public areas where a family can have a fun day or walk around and admire nature. The restaurants are pretty great and quick to have a bite at a good price. The community really comes together when it comes to helping someone in need of help. The weather is a bit crazy at times, yet when it’s spring , Nacogdoches is full of pretty colors for great picnics and pictures. The schools are always helping the students and parents to help the community succeed. It might not be a big town but it really is a nice place to pass by or even move into! A thing that I would change about Nacogdoches is the way COVID is handled, It would be nice if masks where mandatory everywhere. I would really recommend to visit, to see how beautiful and worthy Nacogodches is.

I currently rent an apartment in Nac to go to college here, the rent is so much more affordable than a bigger city's. There is a farmers market each saturday near the historic downtown, which it itself is home to many gatherings and festivals. The only downside is it is a small town, so you get used to the place after a few years.

Moved here from Arizona about a year ago. Was able to buy a wonderful home for half what I would have paid in AZ. The biggest thing I love is the wonderful people. We are retired. Doctors are good, food is reasonable, haven't found a restaurant I love yet, Lufkin is close enough to get anything you need, gas is REALLY cheap. Weird the way you have to pick an electric company from 27 available. I have never been happier anywhere.
